The United Plays of America consist of 51 short plays - one from every state in the USA and from the District of Columbia. They run from 3 minutes to ten minutes making them ideal for drama classes (and they're free to use is class - but in class only). Take your pick: All 51 plays! (Why not) or smaller files arranged by region. Volume 1 contains plays set in the states in the Northeast and the South. Volume 2 contains plays set in the Midwest and the West. Use the Contact Me page to order your copy while they're still free today. More information about the anthology is below.

The plays have already had 95 productions in theatres, universities, high schools, and middle schools. 127 schools have reached out for the anthology. Photo: From Mirrorbox Theatre, Iowa |
Thirty percent of the roles are gender neutral making it easier to cast. Each play comes with "theme tags" so you know in advance if it is a comedy, a drama, historical, fantasy, romantic comedy, etc. 98% of the plays use characters ages 11-23 making them accessible to young people. 2 plays (New Hampshire and Utah) use a grandparent and I liked the inter-generational tone of those plays.

You can cast this with 4-112 students. While many of the plays center around relationships, family, and friends, you will find some talking crabs and an occasional talking llama. Because, why not?
