FREE CLASSROOM SCENES FOR TEENS - Scenes for drama class
New!Below are scenes from published plays as well as short scenes that have been used in short play festivals (Gone in Sixty Seconds - Brooklyn and United Kingdom), Hit and Run Festival (Spokane, WA) and published in anthologies. They are free for classroom use and drama clubs only (sorry but not to be used in festivals or student one-acts even if no admission is charged).
If you would like to be alerted to when new scenes on this page and new plays for youth appear, sign up for my newsletter. It ONLY comes out the first week of the month from August through May. That's it - 10 pages per year. There is no spam and no follow-up emails unless I hear from you (questions, concerns, royalty rights). A list of new scenes will be provided with details as to genre and casting requirements. You can sign up by telling me through my entry form. First newsletter comes out February 2023.
Please contact me if you plan on using them in class so I can see where they wind up (your school, city and state). Please do keep my name on the scripts. Nothing may go to Youtube. Still photos are fine.
For uses other than class (competition, student one-acts where there is an audience, etc.), full rights must be obtained. I charge a nominal fee for use of ten-minute plays. (Usually ten dollars per play per performance.) Various arrangements can be made. If a publisher is cited, you must go through the publisher for the rights to use these scenes if there is any audience.
I have noted the published scripts and rights must be obtained through them. If no publisher is noted, rights can be made through me on the Contact Page. The plays/scenes running times vary from 2 minutes to ten minutes. The subjects are as varied as synesthesia, 9/11, the Holocaust, the White Rose Society, fairy tales and Native American folktales. Print, play and enjoy!
